day 287, bridge at bolsa chica wetlands

day 286, these were the first jail cells in huntington beach. the historic structures were built back in 1914 for the police station that was located just next door (where a nail salon stands today). located just off main street, these cells were strategically placed to handle the flow from the bars along the main drag leading to the pier. and notice the one stand-alone jail cell at front left of photo, adjacent to the row of brick cells? this is where the rowdiest offenders spent the night, in isolation.

day 284, memorial day...this flag is at huntington beach. there is a plaque at the base of the flag that says "all gave some. some gave all." so true...

day 276, crystal cove state park is beautiful with old cottages for rent, rocky bluffs, tidepools, a restaurant, and the offshore waters are a designated underwater park for scuba and skin diving! it's between corona del mar and laguna beach. lovely...

day 275, duck-a-thon in huntington beach. buy a duck and give it a name, it get's dumped in the ocean off the pier by a tractor along with a lot of other ducks. first 60 to make it back to the shore win a prize!

day 257, this dolphin has been swimming in the bolsa chica wetlands for 5 days. they think he has been bullied by other dolphins and that is why he is not swimming back out to the ocean. he tried to go back towards the ocean, but he was aggressively forced back to the wetlands by two other dolphins. poor guy. i hope he makes it back out there where he belongs soon. he actually did not appear fazed by all the people looking at him. he was hanging around swimming in circles right by where all the people were.
