day 29 huntington harbour

day 29
peter's landing marina. it was after 7 when i realized i hadn't taken my photo yet today, so i stopped off here on my way home to get some steps in walking around the marina and hopefully find something to take a picture of. it was kind of dark for a phone camera but better than nothing! it was good to see people having drinks at a couple of the places there. i can't wait 'til things are back to normal...

day 28 long beach

we were sitting at a signal when this pup pulled up staring at me. i had to snap a pic. as i'm saying "hi cutie! you're so cute!" another one pops up in the back seat like "what's going on? who's that?" they looked like twins. like little lions. i said "oh there are two!" then the driver, obviously hearing this, pokes his head forward and smile and waves. very cute.

day 18 cypress pacific electric railway

the pacific electric railway trolley's linked los angeles, orange, riverside and san bernardino counties. the most famous and symbolic were the "big red cars" carrying commuters and sightseers through southern california cities, fruit groves, beach areas, ranchland and the spanish missions. this is the santa ana line in cypress, a remnant of the pacific electric system going through central orange county from los angeles county line to santa ana crossing through cities of la palma, cypress, buena park, anaheim, stanton, garden grove and santa ana. this is your history lesson of the day. you're welcome.

day 3, los angeles skidrow

day 3 for about five years i have been going out to the streets in los angeles helping homeless people. i work with a group, a 501c3 nonprofit, providing food, clothes, hygiene kits, among other things. we have developed relationships with many of these people. every one has a story. i have been personally bringing books to give away, many of them donated from the fine folks here on nextdoor! the number one book requested is the bible. anything by james patterson is a close second. some of them have taken to calling me "the book lady". i love that! i also have started to bring reading glasses (also many were generously donated to me from friends and neighbors here on nextdoor) after several times people would tell me that they would love a book but don't have glasses so they can't read. so now i am the book lady who also has glasses! it has been life changing for me since i have been going out to the streets on a regular basis. i have heard so many stories. this is bertha, they call her negra and she is very sweet and funny.
